Presentation:  Each student will be required to present a designated topic to the class. This should be prepared as if you were giving a presentation for a job interview.  In other words the best teaching you are able to do.  The grade will be based on your preparation, delivery, incorporation of good teaching pedagogy (cooperative learning, getting class involved etc. ) as well as the ability to ensure all students understand the mathematical concept being taught.  A lesson plan and bulletin board is required.

Proficiency Tests  There will be three proficiency tests given.  These tests will include all of the concepts that are being covered in the course.  They are basic skills exams.

Portfolio---This is a notebook where you will compile all the material given out in the presentations.  Also it is important to make notes as to how the materials were used.  For instance if the presenter played a game you should have a description of the game, materials used , suggestions for additional variations etc.   Each packet within the portfolio should not just be a compilation of the handouts.

Volunteer or In Field Experience  Each student is required to do a minimum of 15 hours of volunteer work and this must be done in a minimum of 5 visits to a school. You can volunteer all 15 hours with the same teacher or a variety of teachers. It is suggested that you visit several classrooms before committing to the program.  The hours will be documented on a handout and signed by both you and your critic teacher.

Academic Dishonesty:  Cheating of any form will not be tolerated in this class. You are expected to be a role model for your profession you have chosen.  Any student caught cheating will earn an automatic F in the course.
